If you're looking for a great family day out this summer, Windsor's famous kids attraction, LEGOLAND Windsor, is now fully open and ready for a fun-filled season. The former safari park opened as Legoland in 1996 and has been entertaining children of all ages ever since.
Take the hill train down to the resort and visit miniland - almost 40 million LEGO bricks have been used to create the buildings, trees, landscapes, characters and vehicles. There are famous scenes from all over the world including Big Ben in London and Buckingham Palace.
Each area is alive with moving characters, boats sailing, noises and music. This is a magical part that kids will be fascinated by. They can even take skipper remote-controlled boats on miniland lake.
If the weather is good visit DUPLO Valley where the Splash Safari speaks for itself. This will give the kids time to dry off if their clothes get a little wet! Swimsuits are recommended for areas such as Drench Towers - which is the largest water play structure in the UK. There are activities in this area for all ages from tots to pre-teens.
From Puppet shows to Fairy Tales there's lots going on at LEGOLAND so be prepared for a long day or consider taking your time and getting a special two-day pass.
For kids aged 6-13 start them off early with the interactive Driving School - they watch a safety video and then take control of electric cars that they can navigate around a track with traffic lights, roundabouts and other drivers - they'll soon receive their Legoland Driving Licence - a real treat!
There's a fab Dragon Ride mini roller-coaster, The Kingdom of the Pharaohs, Pirate Falls with the Jolly Rocker swinging ship, Knights Kingdom and Land of the Vikings all to explore and enjoy. Your day will be interspersed with entertaining shows at regularly advertised slots throughout the day and there are plenty of rest spots for snacks or lunch to keep up the energy levels. They have thought of everything at LEGOLAND Windsor - to be prepared we suggest arriving half and hour before they open to sample the shop and cafe and get your map of the park. Be prepared for a bit of walking and the odd soaking all in the name of fun.
Top Tip for your visit: Go straight to the back of the park where it will be quieter at opening time and work your way towards the front. Make sure to pack a light raincoat in case of showers and most of all relax and have fun!
