Winter in Windsor

What an amazing weather week - yesterday was mild, sunny and bright in Windsor and today it is cold, dull and wintery. It is raining hard and the weathermen say it will be snowing by the weekend. Time to dust off the wellies and get out your scarves and hats.
The temporary ice skating rink has been removed from Alexandra Gardens and the gardeners were replacing the turf this morning as I drove past ready for spring which is around the corner (daffodils are sprouting up everywhere).

Even though it is cold, Windsor in Winter is still an amazing place - the fabulous architecture and the history contained in such a relatively small town always makes my mind wander as I daydream about what life must have been like in olden times. Windsor is full of friendly faces - everyone seems to know everyone - which is nice if you live in Windsor. I love the community feel of the town and how businesses seem to work together - always networking and recommending each other.

If you are reading this and have had a good experience or a bad expeience and want to tell the world please post your comments about Windsor.

Where to stay in Windsor?

Windsor is a fabulous town with bags of character, olde worlde charm, beautiful old buildings and a travel lodge.... Besides Windsor's (awful) travel lodge, there are many interesting places to stay if visiting Windsor for a daytrip, a week or staying for a few months.

Windsor bed and breakfasts - these are few since the travel lodge opened - many owners feeling they can't compete with the large corporation, however a few great B&B's still exist and are worth finding. On Alma Road just 5 minutes walk from the bustling town centre, on a leafy residential street, look for Alma House B&B at 56 Alma Road - see the website here: http://www.almahouse.co.uk - free wireless high-speed internet access and all modern ensuite bedrooms. The house is literally 5 minutes from shops, cafes, restaurants and central train station.

For Short term weekly lets try http://www.accommodation-windsor.co.uk - standard, executive and superior apartments available with all modern conveniences, fully furnished and serviced if required. Rent from one week to a few months.
